Rams bolster defensive backfield with 26th pick in latest 2025 mock draft

The Los Angeles Rams have not had a dependable cover corner since Jalen Ramsey, who suited up for the team from 2019 to 2022. With the 2025 NFL Draft on the horizon, the Rams are aiming to bolster several areas of their roster, with cornerback being a high priority. Given the depth of talent in this draft class, the Rams have the opportunity to select a player who can make an impact on their defensive backfield, helping to strengthen the position significantly.

CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards' latest 2025 mock draft has the team addressing its secondary with the 26th overall pick by selecting Ole Miss cornerback Trey Amos.

History suggests Los Angeles does not value secondary players at this stage of the draft but a long-term answer at cornerback has evaded the Rams since parting with Jalen Ramsey. Trey Amos has a quality combination of production and athletic ability.

A first-team All-SEC selection, Amos played one season for the Rebels where he recorded 50 tackles, 13 pass deflections, three interceptions, and a forced fumble, helping lead the team to a 10-3 finish and a victory 52-20 victory over Duke in the Gator Bowl. Prior to his time at Ole Miss, Amos spent the 2023 season at Alabama where he transferred to following three seasons (2020-2022) at Louisiana.

The Rams' lone notable move at corner this offseason has been re-signing veteran corner Ahkello Witherspoon. Witherspoon is coming off a solid 2024 campaign in which he recorded career highs in tackles (52), interceptions (3), pass deflections (14), and fumble recoveries ...
