Report: Chelsea’s plan for “exceptional” star revealed with interesting role earmarked

Chelsea’s plan is to use Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos at the Club World Cup after his loan with Strasbourg according to reports.

The Blues are in the midst of navigating a difficult end to the season as they look to qualify for the Champions League and win the Conference League.

Chelsea will then compete in the Club World Cup at the end of the season in America which is due to start in mid June, with the Blues expecting Enzo Maresca to go on a deep run in the competition.

Chelsea plan to use Santos at Club World Cup

The timing of the Club World Cup is set to have an impact on transfers and it’s believed Chelsea are looking to do their business early.

The Blues completed the signings of Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo from Sporting Lisbon last month, with Essugo set to make his debut in America this summer, whilst Quenda will join in 2026.

Given the competition takes place at the end of a gruelling season Chelsea will want as many players available as possible, and they have a number of loan stars returning.

Perhaps the most exciting is Santos, who is currently thriving with Strasbourg, where he’s scored ten goals to help give the Ligue 1 side a chance of qualifying for the Champions League.

Santos, who’s been hailed as “exceptional” by Liam Rosenior is set for a key role in the squad next season, and AS have reported the Blues are set to use the 20-year-old this summer.

The report adds Chelsea could look to deploy him in a midfield three with Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo which would be interesting.
