A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga outfit Real Betis has committed his long-term future to the club.
The player in question? Sergi Altimira.
Altimira, for his part, is in the midst of what has been an altogether impressive campaign to date.
Continuing to establish himself as one of the first names on the team sheet of boss Manuel Pellegrini, the 23-year-old has racked up 43 appearances across all competitions.
His prolonged excellence on both sides of the ball across these outings culminated in January interest in Altimira’s services on the part of one of European football’s leading clubs, in Manchester City.
All of a Betis persuasion, in turn, will no doubt be relieved to hear of their side’s midfield standout opting to rebuff the mounting interest in his signature.

‘Agreement sealed between Real Betis and talented midfielder Sergi Altimira over new deal. Contract will be valid until June 2029 with release clause worth €60m.’
