Raiders Position Assessment: Breaking down the Las Vegas interior offensive line

Starters: Alex Cappa, Jackson Powers-Johnson, Jordan Meredith

Backups: Dylan Parham, Will Putnam

The offensive line was in flux all last season. With the starters cycling in and out in part to injury and in part to try and find the best combination. Jackson-Powers Johnson was the team's best option at center, but was played at left guard to try and keep the best five on the field. Parham struggled in his 14 starts while Meredith appeared to show himself to be a better option.

Condition: Unstable

With Andre James cut, Powers-Johnson moves solidly in to position as the team's starting center. That alone would have left the Raiders with at least one open spot at guard. They added former Bengals guard Alex Cappa to compete with Jordan Meredith and Dylan Parham for the two guard spots. Cappa is coming off a season in which he was one of the worst linemen in the league, while Parham was essentially benched in favor of Meredith. That puts both guard spots on some shaky ground.

Draft projection

JPJ is the only sure thing in this group. Sure, they can field two starters and one backup. But there's no question they can and should look for more competition and/or a potential upgrade at guard in this draft. Especially with as much of a priority the new coaching staff has said they would like to put on running the ball.
