Oklahoma Sooners sweep Arkansas Razorbacks with 10-7 win

Oklahoma Sooners moved to 26-0 on the season and 6-0 in SEC play with a 10-7 win to sweep the Arkansas Razorbacks on Sunday.

Patty Gasso went with Isabela Smith to start the game. Smith allowed a walk and a single with one out before getting Arkansas' Bri Ellis to pop up for the second out. But Courtney Day launched a three-run homer to give the Razorbacks an early lead.

But the lead didn't last long.

True freshman Gabbie Garcia led off the inning with a home run to cut the lead to 3-1. Ailana Agbayani walked and advanced to second on Isabella Emerling's fielder's choice. Hannah Coor doubled to bring in Agbayani and make it 3-2 Arkansas. After Abigail Dayton walked, third baseman Nelly McEnroe-Marinas hit a three-run home run to give the Sooners a 5-3 lead. Ella Parker walked, Kasidi Pickering reached on a single, and Cydney Sanders walked to load the bases for Garcia. The shortstop came through with an RBI single to make it 6-3. Agbayani grounded into a fielder's choice and Emerling struck out with the bases loaded to end the inning.

In the bottom of the second, Peytn Monticelli delivered a scoreless inning to keep the Razorbacks from answering back. However, Arkansas cut into the lead in the bottom of the third when Bri Ellis hit a two-run home run to make it a one-run game off of Kierston Deal.

Garcia answered again in the top of the fourth, with a two-run home run to put Oklahoma up 8-5. She now leads the team with nine home runs on the season, all of which have come in the last 10 games.

Deal threw a scoreless fourth, and the Sooners rewarded her with two more runs in the fifth to make it 10-5. Dayton reached on an error,r and McEnroe-Marinas drove her in with a double to right center on an 0-2 count. Parker then drove in McEnroe-Marinas to put Oklahoma up 10-5.

Ellis took Deal deep once again to cut into Oklahoma's lead, and Patty Gasso went back to Sam Landry, who was phenomenal on Saturday. Though she walked the first batter she faced, Landry only allowed one hit and a walk across 2.1 innings, at one point striking out five in a row. It was Landry's second save of the weekend.

Over the weekend, Landry threw 11.1 innings, allowed no runs, just five hits, two walks, and struck out 10. She lowered her ERA to 1.16 while keeping in check one of the most dangerous offenses in the nation.

Nelly McEnroe-Marinas was 2-for-5 on the day with a home run, a double, and four RBIs. Gabbie Garcia went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs.

The Oklahoma Sooners continue their road trip with a midweek tilt against the Wichita State Shockers on Wednesday, March 19, before heading to Columbia to take on the Missouri Tigers next weekend.
