Notre Dame OC Mike Denbrock has an “incredibly difficult” decision to make at quarterback

The biggest position battle for Notre Dame football this spring is at quarterback, and offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock has yet to make a decision, one that he said recently is “going to be incredibly difficult.”

The main players to take over the starting spot are Steve Angeli, CJ Carr, and Kenny Minchey with Blake Hebert trying to jump over those three. Denbrock has very good options to take over for the now departed Riley Leonard, but “all three of the guys are playing very well, consistently. They’re making good decisions with the ball.”

These are things that you love to hear from Notre Dame’s OC, as whoever takes over will have plenty of weapons at their disposal. You’d have to expect the starter to be leaning on the running game early in the season, as they get their feet wet in the college game. None of them have extensive experience, although Angeli did start the 2024 Sun Bowl and guide Notre Dame to a win.

As the spring continues toward the Blue and Gold game, we will keep monitoring which quarterback is separating themselves from the field.
