Michigan State beats Lansing Lugnuts in 2025 Crosstown Showdown

Michigan State baseball is off to a hot start, and that only got hotter on Tuesday evening. In the 2025 Crosstown Showdown between the Spartans and the Lansing Lugnuts, Michigan State was able to take down Lansing's professional baseball team, 1-0.

The Crosstown Showdown exhibition between the Lugnuts and Spartans began in 2007 as a celebration of baseball in Mid Michigan, and the Lugnuts have taken the last 11 matchups, until tonight.

The Lansing Lugnuts, the High-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, were using this exhibition with the Spartans as the last game of preparation for the 2025 minor league season.

Graduate student catcher Caleb Berry was the Spartan that drove in the lone run.

Michigan State's Wednesday game against Bowling Green has been cancelled, due to the incoming weather, meaning the Spartans will not be back in action until this weekend when they travel to Indiana for a weekend series against the Hoosiers.
