No Tariffs: Cowboys trade routes update their 2025 draft pick cargo

The Dallas Cowboys have once again used their draft picks to acquire veteran talent via the trade market. A trend that began in 2023 with the acquisitions of CB Stephon Gilmore, WR Brandin Cooks and QB Trey Lance, continued into the 2024 season when they grabbed former second-round pick, WR Jonathan Mingo.

This offseason saw them use picks to acquire LB Kenneth Murray and CB Kaiir Elam early in free agency. Now the the draft is getting closer and the club has a strong sense of who will be available and when, they've decided to offload another pick, sending a fifth-round selection to the New England Patriots for backup QB Joe MIlton III, who brought back a seventh rounder in the exchange.

The move allows Dallas to retain the same number of lottery picks in the draft later this month, an even 10. Here's a recap of those picks and how they were acquired.
