Hampton's 6-foot, 221-pound frame already houses the size and strength of a professional running back. He's the fourth-ranked running back in the 2025 NFL draft class, and while the Giants have Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary, Hampton is an intriguing prospect.
NFL draft analyst Lance Zierlein offered the following scouting report:
High-volume battering ram with a three-ingredient recipe of size, strength and aggression. Hampton is a linear runner lacking creativity and wiggle, but once the gas is engaged, he runs like a downhill truck whose brake lines have been cut. He has the base, balance and power to batter tacklers and reignite runs after contact but he fails to recognize alternative run lanes that offer easier paths and more yardage. He needs to work on his pass protection but can create positive plays on swing passes and screens. Hampton is a tone-setting future starter who can handle a heavy workload, but he absorbs rare levels of heavy contact that could create durability or longevity issues if he doesn’t learn to pick and choose his battles.
The Giants' current roster of running backs is more finesse runners. They don't necessarily seek out contact or try to force their way down the field. Hampton is the complete opposite of that. He is a downhill runner with one speed. The biggest issues he has are with his vision and willingness to take too many unnecessary hits. He will require some development, but could potentially get involved as a third-down back.
The draft is just two weeks away and the Giants are doing as many evaluations as they can in preparation. How well they draft this year will directly correlate with how successful they are in 2025.
