The Huskers (11-14) returned home Friday night following a long road trip to California for a three-game series against No. 5 Oregon State (19-5). With three home runs and a strong defensive front, Nebraska took game one with a 7-3 upset win.
The Huskers scored all seven runs before the Beavers got on the board in the sixth. Though Oregon State closed the gap to 7-3, Nebraska shut down any comeback attempts to secure the victory and its first top five victory since upsetting No. 1 Arkansas in the Fayetteville Regional in 2021.
The Huskers finished with 11 hits for seven RBIs and three home runs while holding the Beavers to five hits for three RBIs and one home run.
Dylan Carey and Devin Nunez co-led at the plate, both going 2-for-4 on the night. Carey drove in two RBIs while also sending a hit over the wall.
Tyler Stone and Cael Frost delivered Nebraska's other two home runs, each serving up two-run shots. Rhett Stokes brought in an RBI off his lone single in the fourth.
Will Walsh (3-4) pitched 6.0 innings for Nebraska, firing two strikeouts while allowing three runs off five hits. Drew Christo took over for the final 3.0 innings, earning his first save of the season. He shut down Oregon State throwing two strikeouts and allowing no hits and no runs.
