Mike Vrabel hints at position change for Patriots' first-round pick

New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel spoke to the media at the NFL Annual Meeting and indicated that offensive guard Cole Strange will continue to take reps at center.

Strange is expected to compete with newly-signed center Garrett Bradbury, despite originally being drafted at guard and playing at that position for most of his career.

The Patriots tested Strange at center late last season with the team dealing with multiple injuries at the position. Vrabel was impressed with how he played at the position with limited reps, and he views the former first-round draft pick as a player with three-position versatility inside.

This would certainly be a switch-up from Strange's natural position.

However, his positional versatility does give the Patriots flexibility to move things around on the offensive line, as they look to improve the unit. It also gives the team a better shot at getting their best five offensive linemen on the field at the same time.
