New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel commented on the trade speculation surrounding quarterback Joe Milton III.
The Patriots' backup has generated significant trade buzz since his win over the Buffalo Bills in the regular season finale. In his first NFL start at quarterback, Milton went 22-of-29 passing for 241 yards and a touchdown. He also had 10 carries for 16 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
The combination of his athleticism and strong arm has intrigued outsiders to the point where the trade speculation continues to grow.
"I think Joe did everything they asked him to do last year ... he worked extremely hard," Vrabel said at the NFL Annual Meeting, via SI.com's Mike Kadlick. "And that's tough when you're a quarterback. Everybody wants to play ... He was ready for his opportunity there late in the season which I commend him on... Where that leads to, we'll see as the draft approaches or where Joe is on April 7th to start our offseason program."
Milton’s future in New England may not be solidified at this point, but it’s clear he is thought of highly around the league.
One has to wonder if he will be moved soon or if he will stay put as the No. 2 option behind Patriots quarterback Drake Maye in 2025.
