Seattle Kraken prospect Oscar Fisker Molgaard will be joining the Coachella Valley Firebirds, following the conclusion of the SHL season.
Fisker Molgaard and HV71 won their relegation series, maintaining their spot in Sweden's top league for the 2025-26 season. Although they maintained their spot, Fisker Molgaard will make the jump to professional North American hockey.
HV71 have made multiple posts about the 20-year-old, both of him thanking the organization and the organization wishing him luck on his new chapter. Deep Sea Hockey on X has also reported that the AHL's transaction page had stated that Fisker Molgaard has been reassigned to the Firebirds.
The Danish center signed his entry-level contract during the offseason, preparing for a move like this one. The Kraken recently did this with Jani Nyman, and the move has seen excellent results. Nyman was a force in the AHL and has excelled in the NHL since his call-up.
Fisker Molgaard and Nyman are different players, but the formula has seen results for numerous NHL teams. Fisker Molgaard is listed at 6'0, 168 lbs, and is known for his two-way game. Scoring five goals and 19 points in 38 SHL games this season, the young forward dealt with a long-term injury but was still a key contributor. Nyman had better offensive results in Finland and is much bigger, listed at 6'4 and 220 lbs.
Getting into some regular season games and possibly playoff games should help Fisker Molgaard be prepared for his rookie season in the AHL next year.
