CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Cumberland Valley's 3-0 halftime lead was too much for Calvary to overcome, as the Eagles fell 3-1 on Monday.
"We are early in the season," Calvary Head Coach Scott Weeks said. "We saw some things we need to work on and will hopefully fix those things before Thursday. It's not about winning the game but doing things right and constantly improving. Winning will start to come naturally if do things right."
The Blazers struck first when Kaitlyn Garvin found the back of the net at 13:14 off a well-executed corner kick, assisted by Reagan Witmer.
About seven minutes later at the 20:05 mark, Witmer scored unassisted from the top of the 18-yard box.
The Blazers sealed their first-half advantage with a third goal at the 35:51 mark, when Addison Teal's shot bounced goalkeeper Selah Livengood and into the net.
Reagan Getz put the Eagles (1-1) on the board at the 74:14 mark off a shot from about 45 yards out.
The ball took a bounce and slipped through the legs of Cumberland Valley's keeper Kylaya Martin.
The Blazers finished with an 11-9 edge in shots on goal while the Eagles had a 5-2 lead in corners.
Livengood and Martin each saved eight shots in goal.
The Eagles travel to Heritage Academy on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
