Fort Hill beats Keyser in extras; Cumberland Valley walks off Calvary

KEYSER, W.Va. — Fort Hill and Keyser needed extra innings tied at 1, but a four-run eighth inning led the Sentinels (3-2) to a 5-1 win on Monday.

Peyton Blocher doubled to put Fort Hill in front in the top of the eighth.

An error at short scored two runs followed by a Mason Bennett RBI single.

Carson Bender earned the win in three shutout innings of relief, only allowing three hits with two strikeouts.

He also drew two walks and stole three bases.

Sawyer Rodeheaver threw five innings of one-run ball for the Golden Tornado (3-4), allowing three hits and two walks with four punchouts.

Layton Valentine was charged with four runs in three innings, but only one was earned along with three walks and three hits.

Fort Hill plays at Berkeley Springs on Wednesday before a trip to No. 3 Northern (3-0) on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Keyser hosts Berkeley Springs on Friday at 6 p.m.

Cumberland Valley 9 Calvary 8

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Calvary led 8-3 after four innings, but Cumberland Valley rallied and completed a comeback on Monday, winning 9-8, for its first win of the season.

W. Timmons walked it off on a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh.

N. Minnier hit a solo shot in the second inning that put Cumberland Valley in front 1-0.

First names for the Blazers were unavailable.

Riley O’Brien went 4 2/3 innings for the Eagles (1-3), allowing three hits, one earned run and six walks with five strikeouts.

O’Brien and Sammy Scritchfield each had a pair of hits.

Calvary heads to Turkeyfoot on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
