Kansas City Chiefs rival opens up about possibly joining the team in free agency

The Kansas City Chiefs parted ways with Justin Reid in free agency and could be in the market for another veteran safety. Former long-time Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons recently appeared as a guest on the 'Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams' to share his thoughts on potentially being open to joining Kansas City this offseason.

"This is where my heart is torn. I've always been so publicly against Kansas City, and it's because they're a really good team," said Simmons. "It's not like a true, 'Hey, I just want to beat them.' It's just ingrained in me to beat them."

Simmons started 16 games last season with the Atlanta Falcons, collecting two interceptions. He referred to a similar decision that running back Josh Jacobs made last year, deciding to sign with the Green Bay Packers after a significant tenure with the rival Las Vegas Raiders.

"He was like, 'No, I want to beat them,'" said Simmons. "Honestly, I feel the exact same way. And so, am I shutting that door? Am I closing it? No. But I just want to be the team that beats them."

The veteran free-agent safety has dominated his battles in the secondary against the Chiefs during the 'Patrick Mahomes era.' He has intercepted Mahomes six times and has 32 total in his career.
