Kansas basketball announces signing of Loyola-Chicago guard Jayden Dawson

LAWRENCE — Kansas basketball officially announced the signing of Jayden Dawson on Saturday, after the recent revelation the guard from Loyola-Chicago had decided to transfer to the Jayhawks.

Dawson, who will be a senior for the 2025-26 season, is listed at 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds. He’s a native of Omaha, Nebraska. Last season, he averaged 13.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game as he earned All-Atlantic 10 Conference honors on the league’s second team.

“We are so excited about Jayden,” Kansas coach Bill Self said in a KU release. “He had an excellent year at Loyola-Chicago. He’s got good size, plays any perimeter position and can shoot the ball. Jayden is a great start to our portal signing.”

Dawson’s Loyola-Chicago team finished 25-12 and saw its campaign end in the semifinals of the National Invitation Tournament. He’ll join a Kansas squad that’s looking to rebound from a disappointing exit in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Whether Dawson starts or not, his presence will be key in helping the Jayhawks return to the form many have grown to expect of Self’s squads in Lawrence. He started all 32 games he played in this season, while shooting 36.3% from behind the arc.
