Four-star quarterback Ryan Hopkins commits to Luke Fickell, Wisconsin football

MADISON – It’s only April, but the Wisconsin football program secured a key commitment to its 2026 class.

Ryan Hopkins, a quarterback from California, told On3 Sunday night that he committed to the Badgers. He is the fifth known player to committed to UW in that class.

Hopkins comes with some cache. He is considered a four star recruit by Rivals. On3 and 247sports listed him as a three-star prospect.

After On3 posted the news of his commitment, Hopkins reposted it report, writing "Home! All glory to God #gobadgers"

Hopkins, who is listed at 6-foot-3 and 195 pounds. attends Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, but he played his junior season at Jserra Catholic where, according to the Orange County Register, he was a first-team all-conference selection who threw for 1,111 yards and 13 touchdowns and rushed for a team-high 483 yards. The newspaper described him as being a “speedy runner with a strong arm.”

In a testament to his speed, Hopkins reposted on X his track results for a recent 100-meter race. He won in 10.66 seconds.

According to Rivals, Hopkins received 11 other Division I offers: Arizona, California, Duke, Kentucky, Michigan State, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Central Florida, Utah, Virginia and Washington.

The Badgers' 2026 class now includes three offensive players. Hopkins joins receiver Tayshon Bardo and offensive lineman Benjamin Novak. The class also includes Carsen Eloms, a cornerback from Indiana, and Carmelow Reed, an edge rusher from the Chicago area.
