Former Purdue women's basketball guard Rashunda Jones transfers to Michigan State

WEST LAFAYETTE — Former Purdue guard Rashunda Jones is staying in the Big Ten Conference and trading her black and gold for the green and white in East Lansing, Michigan.

Jones announced she's transferring to Michigan State on X formerly known as Twitter on Sunday afternoon after she entered the transfer portal on March 31.

The former Purdue guard Jones, a native of South Bend and Washington High graduate, averaged 7.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and nearly 1.0 steal per game and was awarded Big Ten All-Freshman honors in 2023-24.

Jones' following season didn't pan out for Purdue which failed to qualify for the Big Ten Conference tournament. The productivity of Jones increased offensively and she averaged 9.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game and shot 47.1% from the field and 84.9% from the free throw line.

But her offensive gains failed to yield significant results as Purdue finished 10-19 including 3-15 in the Big Ten Conference play.

Jones joins Michigan State which finished 22-10 in 2023-24 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
