Ethan Hedges continues to shine as USC baseball defeats Arizona State
Coming off of a weekend in which they took two of three from Michigan to win their first Big Ten series, USC Baseball was back on the road again Tuesday night. The Trojans made the trip to Tempe, Arizona to take on former Pac-12 foe Arizona State.
After falling behind early, USC battled back to tie the game at two. The Trojans then scored two runs in the fifth inning and two more in the seventh and held off the Sun Devils late to prevail with a 6-3 victory.
Leading the way for USC once again was two-way star Ethan Hedges. After hitting a two-run home run in the third inning to tie the game at two, he came in to pitch in the bottom of the ninth and pitched a scoreless frame to shut the door on the game.
Hedges now has six home runs and six saves on the season. Tuesday night was the third time this year that he has done both in the same game.
USC is now 12-8 on the season. The Trojans will resume Big Ten play this weekend when they welcome Nebraska to Great Park in Irvine. Friday's game will be nationally televised by FS1, with first pitch at 6:30 p.m. Pacific time.
