ECU cornerback named potential Day 2 NFL draft target for Jaguars

East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel was named a potential Day 2 NFL draft fit for the Jacksonville Jaguars by Pro Football Network.

"Shavon Revel Jr. is the type of player who can elevate this unit and push Tyson Campbell and the rising Jarrian Jones," wrote PFN. "An ACL tear cut his senior season short, but Revel has the size, speed, physicality, and IQ to develop into a lockdown cornerback at the next level."

As was mentioned, Revel suffered an ACL injury early on in the 2024 season. He was limited to only three games, but was off to a quick start, surrendering just eight completions on 21 targets with a pair of interceptions and two pass breakups, according to PFF.

The 2023 season was Revel's first as a starter and was his breakout year. The 6-2 - 194 pound Revel allowed a 44% completion rate at 13.2 yards per catch with 10 pass breakups and one interception.

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com would note Revel's size and speed in his scouting report, and mentioned how disruptive he can be once he gets his hands on the wide receiver.

Adding Jourdan Lewis in free agency helped provide some stability at cornerback for the Jaguars, as that now allows Jarrian Jones to move to the boundary, where the need is the greatest for Jacksonville.

However, while Jones has boundary experience from his time at Florida State, the prudent move on the Jaguars' part would be having him compete for those starting snaps rather than just handing the job over to him.

Revel could very much be in play for the Jaguars when they are on the clock picking at No. 36 overall.
