After clinching the first seed for the second straight year, it'll be another practice week where the Oklahoma City Thunder won't know their Round 1 opponent until Friday night. Alas, such comes with the territory of success.
After the Thunder finished 68-14 with a 115-100 win over the New Orleans Pelicans in their regular-season finale, it didn't take long much time after to see their first-round opponent possibilities trimmed down to just four teams.
The NBA has set its play-in tournament. The No. 8 Memphis Grizzlies will travel to face the No. 7 Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, Apr. 15 to determine the seventh seed. They will face the Houston Rockets in Round 1.
The loser will get one more chance to clinch a playoff spot. The No. 10 Dallas Mavericks will travel to face the No. 9 Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, Apr. 16. The No. 8 vs. No. 7 loser will face the No. 10 vs. No. 9 winner on Friday, Apr. 18. Whoever advances will be the eighth seed and face the Thunder in Round 1.
Regardless of the four teams that face the Thunder, the first-seed should enter as heavy favorites to win the playoff series. After all, they'll enter the playoffs as a title favorite.
