Former Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe heads into the 2025 NFL Draft with a lot of intrigue among players to watch at his position.
A number of teams could conceivably draft the two-year Crimson Tide starter, who led Alabama to 10 straight wins in 2023 and a berth in the four-team College Football Playoff. Milroe's 2024 season wasn't as strong, and his inconsistencies played a part in Alabama's first four-loss campaign since 2007.
Nevertheless, the New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns are two teams that have already held private workouts with Milroe this month, and the Katy, Texas, native also had meetings scheduled with the Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams and New York Giants.
It's the latter of those teams that is projected to land Milroe in Jacob Camenker's latest 2025 NFL mock draft for USA TODAY Sports.
Similar to ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. and CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso, Camenker's quarterbacks-only mock draft has Milroe going to the Giants in the second round with the No. 34 overall pick.
Camenker notes:
"The Giants signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in free agency, but New York's leadership needs to add a young quarterback with upside as they try to save their jobs. Big Blue" has been tied to Milroe, and he is an ideal developmental project to roster behind the two veterans.
"Milroe has rare athleticism and running abilities that should allow him to be a mobile playmaker early in his NFL career. He needs to develop his accuracy and consistency to make it as a passer, but there's a lot to like about his raw, athletic skill set.
"If Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen are looking for a quarterback who might be ready to start sooner, they could opt for Louisville's Tyler Shough, who spent seven seasons in college and enjoyed a quality final season. But if they swing for the fences, Milroe should be their top option."
The Giants have drafted four Alabama players in the past 10 years -- all in the first two rounds -- beginning with star Crimson Tide safety Landon Collins in 2015. Collins was the Giants' second-round selection at No. 33 overall.
Defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson was a second-round pick (55th overall) by New York in 2017, while safety Xavier McKinney was a second-round (36th overall) selection in 2020. Most recently, the Giants drafted Alabama offensive tackle Evan Neal seventh overall in 2022.
Camenker also sees the New York Jets as a potential landing spot for Milroe in the second round, though he ultimately has "Gang Green" taking Louisville QB Tyler Shough in ...
