Cougars rally past Davis at Kingston Tournament

KINGSTON — The Ada High School baseball team didn’t get off to the greatest start against Davis during their first-round matchup on a chill Thursday evening at the Kingston Tournament.

However, the Cougars put together a pretty strong finish and raced past the Wolves 12-4.

Coach Shane Coker’s bunch improved to 17-1 on the year, while Davis dropped to 6-6. Ada was scheduled to face Caddo — ranked No. 6 in Class A-1 — Friday night in the semifinals. The third-place game in Kingston is scheduled for 1 p.m. today with the title game set for 3 p.m.

The Cougars got the bats going in the bottom of the third inning. Ada’s offense detonated to the tune of eight base hits in the inning which led to nine runs. That big AHS burst also included a walk and a hit batter.

Eli Justus led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run he peppered over the wall in center field that put the Cougars ahead 10-4.

After another Ada run scored on an error, Brock Boyles walked the game off with a sacrifice fly.
