Cincinnati Bearcats basketball adds guard Sencire Harris from West Virginia

A sleepy, rainy Sunday turned busy for the Cincinnati Bearcats as minutes after guard Kerr Kriisa announced he was transferring to play for Wes Miller, Sencire Harris from West Virginia joined the party.

Harris also posted his intentions on Instagram and X.

Canton native Sencire "Buck" Harris, a 6-foot-4, 174-pound guard who was with West Virginia will trade Big 12 uniforms and don the red and black.

Harris averaged 5.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists and started all 32 games for the Mountaineers. He made the All-Big 12 Defensive team with 54 steals, more than any UC player.

Sencire Harris (10) started all 32 games for West Virginia this past season. Harris committed to the Cincinnati Bearcats through the transfer portal Sunday, April 6.

His high point game came against TCU when he scored 13, he also had a 12-point, nine-rebound performance against Kansas State. In the two WVU victories over UC, Harris had six points and six rebounds in the 62-59 win in Morgantown. In the Feb. 2, 63-50 WVU win at Fifth Third Arena he didn’t score but had three rebounds, two assists and four steals.

Harris took a redshirt year in 2023-24 while at Illinois. In 2022-23, he averaged 3.7 points and 2.1 rebounds, shooting 43% from the field for the Illini.

At Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary, Harris was the 2022 Ohio Division II Co-Player of the Year, sharing the honors with Woodward’s Paul McMillan. He averaged 20.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.8 steals as a senior and had 18 points and five rebounds in his school’s 72-47 state championship win over Kettering Alter. Harris also started as a junior on the 2021 Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary championship team.

Harris is a redshirt junior with two years of eligibility. He leaves West Virginia after one season under Darrian DeVries who left for Indiana. Ross Hodge is WVU's new coach coming to Morgantown from North Texas.
