Browns unconcerned about Abdul Carter's injuries ahead of the NFL draft

Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry isn’t worried about Abdul Carter’s injuries ahead of the draft.

Carter suffered a shoulder injury during the start of Penn State’s playoff run. The injury didn’t keep him out of any games; in fact, he dominated opponents while injured.

At the NFL combine, Carter was diagnosed with a stress reaction in his foot. The two injuries sidelined Carter during the pre-draft process, but he should be ready for offseason workouts. During the NFL owners' meeting, Berry was asked if he was concerned about Carter’s injuries. The general manager said the injuries were “Not going to be prohibitive to a long, successful career.”

Berry was highly optimistic about Carter’s career. Carter is a fantastic prospect. He has a lightning-quick first step and can beat offensive tackles at the snap. He plays with great tenacity, Carter is always seeking someone to hit. Carter had an incredibly productive season in his first year on the defensive line. However, he’s an inexperienced pass rusher without a deep or consistent bag of moves. Carter is one of the best prospects, but he’s far from a polished prospect. Berry believes Carter will have a successful career in the NFL. The team is homing in on selecting the best player with the second pick. Carter would be worth the second pick.

He and Myles Garrett could develop into the most dangerous pass-rushing duo in NFL history. The Browns have only a few weeks to decide which player the team wants to build a future around.
