New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll was in State College, Pennsylvania on Sunday, having breakfast with Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter.
Carter is projected to be an early first-round selection, and the Giants have now scheduled a visit with him this Thursday, too.

Carter is explosive off the line, agile, fast, and has a seek-and-destroy mentality. He doesn't care that his 6-foot-3 frame isn't as big as the offensive linemen he's pushing through, although when he gets to the NFL, he will need to hit the weight room to gain some strength for the guys he will meet at the next level.
During his senior season at Penn State, Carter recorded 68 tackles (43 solo), four passes defensed, 12.0 sacks, and two forced fumbles.
The Giants signed Chauncey Golston during free agency, plus they have Kayvon Thibodeaux and Brian Burns. Thibodeaux has been disappointing since being drafted but still has upside. Carter can provide another option for the Giants on defense as someone who can get to the quarterback and make stops. The Giants' run defense in 2024 was among the worst in the league.
With all signs pointing to the Tennessee Titans selecting Cam Ward with the first overall pick, and the Cleveland Browns likely to select Travis Hunter, the Giants could select Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. That likelihood dropped when the Giants signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, and in the absence of Travis Hunter, Abdul Carter is a solid option.
