Barcelona and Hansi Flick on course to extend partnership for another year – report
According to SPORT, it has been learned that although Barcelona are in no rush to extend Hansi Flick’s contract, sporting director Deco is keen to secure his renewal in the summer to avoid unnecessary speculation.
While Flick’s current deal runs until 2026, the club wants to ensure long-term stability by reaching an agreement well before he enters the final year of his contract.
There is no doubt that a deal will be reached, but Barcelona will wait until the right moment. The German coach remains fully focused on the present and is in no hurry to discuss an extension.
However, the management does not want to risk any uncertainty surrounding the club’s long-term plans.
The renewal process is expected to proceed smoothly, as both parties share a strong working relationship and a common vision for the future.
There will be new terms
As a reward for his efforts, Flick will receive a salary increase, reflecting the club’s appreciation for his work since arriving last summer.
At the time of his appointment, financial constraints meant that his contract was structured within the club’s limited budget.
Now, Barcelona are prepared to place him in a salary bracket that aligns with his achievements and historical significance.
Flick is also fully on board with Barcelona’s approach to squad planning. He is committed to prioritising internal development over excessive spending in the transfer market.

Amidst all this, the German has made it clear that certain positions need strengthening, and the club has promised to make reinforcements where possible, keeping in mind financial constraints and La Liga’s salary cap regulations.
Above all, the club’s strategy is to retain its core squad before making new signings. Contract renewals remain a priority, and more extensions are expected in the coming months.
Flick, for his part, is comfortable in Barcelona and has embraced the challenge of working within the club’s existing resources.
Unlike legendary long-term managers, Flick envisions his tenure at Barcelona lasting no more than three to four years before taking a break from football.
