PAULS VALLEY — Ada junior Lillian Keefer competed in the high jump for the first time Friday at the Jack Hayes Invitational in Pauls Valley.
You sure couldn’t tell it.
Keefer won the goal medal in the Girls High Jump with a leap of 5-’2”. Khylee Pribble of Weatherford and Callie Abernathy of Noble also had jumps of 5’-2” but Keefer was awarded first place since she made the distance before her competitors.
Ada senior Gavin Gunter won his second gold medal in the Discus with a throw of 168’-5”. Shaun Hughes of Lawton MacArthur was a distant second at 151’-01” and Walker Hembree of Jones was third at 139’-7”.
Grayson Morris finished third in the High Jump with a measurement of 6 feet even. Hembree finished first with a jump of 6’-4” and Mate Standridge was runner-up at 6’-2”.
The Cougars brought home two relay medals.
The 4x400 Ada relay team of Canaan Parker, Camariee Richardson, Lakievin Richardson and Gavin Hamilton finished third with a time of 3:34.07. Millwood won that race in 3:31.77 and John Marshall was second at 3:33.03.
Ada’s 4x200 relay team finished fifth with a time of 1:32.54. That group includes Camariee Richardson, Tremain Gray, Gavin Hamilton and Lakievin Richardson.
John Marshall won the 4x200 Relay with a time of 1:29.46, Millwood was second in 1:30.30 and Tuttle placed third at 1:30.96.
Ada returns to action Friday at the Plainview Invitational.
