Wolfpack track sweeps dual with Butte

Apr. 12—Ethan Anderson swept the hurdles, Breanna Barnes won twice the Glacier dominated its track and field dual with Butte on its home track Friday.

Anderson cruised to victory in both hurdles races, winning the 110s in 14.98 seconds, as the Wolfpack piled up 98.67 points to 48.33 for the Butte boys.

Barnes won the 300 hurdles and the pole vault — clearing 10 feet, 6 inches in the latter — as the Glacier girls scored 102 points to 43 for the Lady Bulldogs.

The visitors won their share of events, but the Wolfpack had depth and major highlights, starting with Cole Opre clearing 14 feet for the first time to win the pole vault. He's one of five young men to reach that height in Montana so far.

Simon Lillard (23.78) and Creed Wiley (54.81) hit PRs while winning the boys 200 and 400; Gabe Ackerly ran 10:00.75 to take the 3,200; Vaughn Ronakov threw a PR of 163-4 to win the javelin; Chase Chaffin won the long jump on criteria, marking 20-10.5; and teammate Carson Baker won the triple with a PR of 40-10.

Dylan Smith hit his PR in the shot put, 51-1, while finishing second to Butte's Brett Polich by one inch. Smith won the discus with a heave of 151-4.

On the girls side, Barnes' win the 100 hurdles was matched by teammate Carmen Eddy, who got a PR of 47.86.

The Pack's Rylee Bigelow hit her PR in the discus, winning with a throw of 122-8. The sophomore now sits No. 2 in Class AA and No. 4 for all classes.

Allie Krueger (36-0) won the shot; Jaidyn Pevey won the high jump, Addison Brisendine won the long jump and Rachel Brannan (35-8, a PR and top mark in AA) took the triple for Glacier.

Butte's Dylann Bartoletti swept the 100 and 200.
