Libby, Troy track and field perform well at Bigfork Invite

Apr. 11—Athletes from Libby and Troy high schools turned in impressive performances at the Bigfork Invitational track and field meet on Saturday, April 5, with several personal records and podium finishes highlighting the day for both programs.

For Libby, sophomore Cody Watson continued his stellar distance season with a third-place finish in the 1,600 meters (4:45.47 PR) and a strong second-place showing in the 3,200 meters, clocking in at 10:33.56 for a season best. Watson's efforts helped Libby secure valuable points in the boys' standings.

In the mid-distance events, sophomore Colter Anderson also contributed with an 11th-place finish in the 800 meters (2:19.64 season best), while sophomore Bridger Moe posted a personal best of 20.49 in the 110-meter hurdles.

On the field, sophomore Ledger Fortner cleared 9 feet in the pole vault to notch a personal best and finish ninth overall.

Libby's girls had a standout showing, earning second place in the team standings behind only Ronan. Freshman Capri Farmer led the charge with a personal-best time of 5:24.74 to take second in the 1,600 meters, while sophomore Hailey Misner placed fifth in the 100 meters (13.85 PR) and fourth in the 200 meters (28.53 PR), providing a consistent scoring punch in the sprints.

Senior Bergen Fortner also impressed with a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (18.57 season best), an eighth-place finish in the long jump (12'5.5" season best), and a fifth-place leap of 29'3.5" in the triple jump — her best of the season.

Meanwhile, Troy's athletes also had bright spots at the Bigfork Invite.

Junior Nolan Morris clocked a season-best 2:06.83 in the 800 meters to win the event and add gold to the Trojans' medal haul. In the 3,200 meters, senior Colter Morris finished 10th with a time of 13:40.03, rounding out Troy's distance efforts.

In the field events, senior Kempton Sloan cleared 5'10" in the high jump to finish tied for fourth, then followed it up with a third-place leap of 38'1" in the triple jump — a season best.

On the girls' side, junior Jaylee Meyers took third in the 3200 meters, crossing the finish line in 14:18.76, adding a top-three placement for the Trojan girls.
