Apr. 11—The Libby girls and boys tennis teams each rolled to 6-1 wins over Bigfork Saturday, April 5, at the Libby Community Tennis Courts.
For the girls varsity, Maggie Fantozzi rallied from a first-set loss to beat Bigfork's Cassy Schlicht, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 1 singles.
At No. 2, Libby's Marissa Hollingsworth beat Amanda Leonard in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. At No. 3, Isabella Meyer was also a straight-set winner over Tatum Holman, 6-1, 7-5, and Claire Fantozzi collected a forfeit win at No. 4.
In doubles play, the top two teams claimed forfeit wins. No. 1 included Shya Huck and Ashlenn James while the No. 2 team had Olivia Martineau and Jillian Stewart.
For the boys, No. 1 Ryan Beagle beat Andrew Kingery, 6-0, 6-2. At No. 2, Alderic Martineau blanked Rye Peterson, 6-0, 6-0.
Isaac Lamere claimed a forfeit win while Jonathan Cano dropped a match at No. 4 to Gunner Busic, 4-6, 2-6.
In doubles play, Libby collected forfeit wins, including the No. 1 team of Eric Thompson and Dylan Warner and the No. 3 team of Cole Sunell and Alex Reatz. No. 2 doubles ended up being a singles match where Blaise Erickson scored a 10-1 pro-set win over Bigfork's Rye Peterson. That happened because Bigfork didn't have enough players.
The Loggers are on the road for a few weeks. April 10, they play at Columbia Falls with Whitefish. April 10-11, the Loggers head to Cut Bank for a tournament, then to Bigfork on April to face Columbia Falls and Bigfork.
The Loggers play the rest of the schedule, with the exception of the state tournament in Billings, at home. It begins Friday, April 18 with Glacier High School's junior varsity team. The Libby Invitational follows April 25-26, then host matches with Columbia Falls on May 3 and Polson on May 10.
The Loggers host the divisional tournament May 15-17.
