What was Dan Quinn most proud of when looking back at the 2024 NFL season?
The Commanders had been one of the NFL's worst teams, a miserable 4-13 in the 2023 season when Ron Rivera was fired and Dan Quinn was hired as the next head coach. In 2024, the Commanders turned things around remarkably, with a 12-5 record, two playoff road wins, and a trip to the NFC Championship Game, finally losing at Philadelphia.
WUSA TV 9 sports director Chick Hernandez sat down for a brief chat with the Commanders' head coach during the 2025 Spring NFL Owners meetings in Palm Beach, Florida.
"What I can say on the team, the environment, the culture they created together, to really set high standards for one another, to have that trust and love for one another, that's what being on a good team is all about," expressed a grateful Quinn.
And to see how many players wanted to be a part of that again, from Ertz (Zach) to Wagner (Bobby), to many others, to guys that are new coming in, that to me, that Chick, fired me up. These players have created a culture and environment of really going for it together. If you can do that from the locker room first, it will take care of itself going onto the field."
The old saying is true: "If you are a leader and you turn around and no one is following you, then you are just out for a walk." One thing is certain in Ashburn: Dan Quinn has many players behind him who have bought into his vision and trust his leadership. Quinn is not simply out for a walk.
