What does Commanders coach Dan Quinn think about additions of Tunsil and Samuel?

"What a cool addition."

That's how Commanders head coach Dan Quinn responded to Chick Hernandez (WUSA 9) when asked regarding the addition of Laremy Tunsil.

Hernandez met and spoke with Quinn at the NFL owners' meetings, which began Sunday in Palm Beach, Florida.

Tunsil and a draft choice were traded from the Houston Texans to the Commanders two weeks ago for four draft choices (two in 2025 and two in 2026).

"What a cool addition to add somebody of Laremy's caliber to play the position, " said Quinn. Everyone knows it's one of the hardest spots, and he's done it at such a high level. So, to add guys like Laremy and Deebo into this crew and have them be part of how we are doing things moving forward, Kudos to Adam and his staff to add to a really cool team."

Hernandez then asked about the acquisition of receiver Deebo Samuel. "Probably the most exciting part is getting the chance to visit with Deebo," began Quinn. "Coming here, getting to talk to him, to know him, what a good fit it is for him, really for us. That part is so important for us. We know how strong the locker room is and what that can be. To add guys like that and getting to know his family, being a part of this here is really a big deal."

"His (Samuel's) mindset, his attitude to go for it, it's exactly the type of Commander we want," added Quinn. This is a competitive, team-oriented, hard-ass, tough competitor. And the more players like that we add to a group that already thinks that way, and feels that way, the better."

So, the Commanders have two key additions to the offense this offseason that Quinn likes very much.
