It was Isaac Howard's name called for the highest individual honor in college hockey on Friday night.
The Spartans hockey star received the Hobey Baker Award on Friday evening, becoming the third player in Michigan State history to win the top college hockey award. Howard is the first to win it since Michigan State legend goalie Ryan Miller did so in 2001.
Howard beat out the other two finalists Zeev Buium of Denver and Ryan Leonard of Boston College for the award. Howard was the top player on Michigan State this season, leading the team in points (52), goals (26) and assists (26). He was the Big Ten Player of the Year and also earned Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player after leading the Spartans to a second straight Big Ten Tournament title.
