The Utah Hockey Club played their final home game of the season last night against the Nashville Predators. It was a special night—not just the last game at the Delta Center this season, but also Fan Appreciation Night.
The evening was filled with added experiences for fans, capped off by the announcement of the team’s 2024–25 season awards.
Here’s a breakdown of the five awards that were handed out:
Team MVP: Karel Vejmelka
Vejmelka was chosen by his teammates as Utah’s Most Valuable Player. He posted a record of 25-21-8 with a 2.51 goals-against average (GAA) and a .906 save percentage (SV%). He set career highs in games played, starts, wins, GAA, and SV%. The most impressive stat? He started 22 consecutive games beginning on Feb. 23—the longest streak by a goalie in the NHL since 2018–19.
Three Stars Award: Dylan Guenther
Guenther took home the Three Stars Award, which goes to the player who earned the most post-game star honors. The 22-year-old forward was recognized 16 times in the three-star selections this season.
Leading Scorer Award: Clayton Keller
The captain led the team in scoring this season, with 27 goals and 58 assists for 85 points through 78 games (as of last night). He ranks top-15 in the NHL in both assists and points, and is just two points away from setting a new career high.
Community Obsessed Award: Alexander Kerfoot
Kerfoot earned this award—and it came as no surprise. He’s been a huge part of growing the game in Utah, especially with young girls entering the sport. He was also the team’s nominee for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy.
All-In Award: Barrett Hayton
Voted on by the fans, the All-In Award went to Barrett Hayton. This award is given to the player who gives it everything, every night. Hayton is one of six players to appear in all 79 games for Utah this season. He matched his career highs in goals, assists, and points—and set new personal bests in power-play points, power-play goals, and game-winning goals.
It’s been a memorable first season for Utah. While they fell just short of the playoffs, there’s no doubt it was a fun one to watch—and there’s even more to look forward to in year two.
