Jimmy Butler is returning to face off against the Miami Heat for the first time since forcing his way out of town earlier this season, resulting in him getting traded to the Golden State Warriors. Ahead of this highly anticipated matchup, the Warriors sent a five-word message regarding their new star player.
After enjoying five successful seasons with the Heat, the bottom fell out from underneath Butler's relationship with the team, leading to him requesting a trade. Butler knows his departure from Miami wasn't exactly smooth, and he's OK with being painted as the bad guy by fans if that's how they want to view him.
“You can be mad. You can paint a picture that is not entirely true. I don’t even need to get into that. They know what they’re doing. You got to paint somebody to be the bad guy. I’ll take being a bad guy. Makes no difference. I’m here now. I’m competing at a high level and I’m helping the Golden State Warriors win. They want me here. Hell, I’m cool with being a bad guy over there," Butler said via The Athletic.
Now, Butler will be returning to Miami, the place where he was once considered a hero, as their team's new biggest enemy. However, he's got the backing of his Golden State squad now, and they sent a five-word message on social media as Butler arrived at the Kaseya Center for this game.
"No. 10 in the building," the Warriors said in a post on X.
