Warriors' Jimmy Butler calls for near perfect basketball in Stephen Curry's absence
Stephen Curry suffered a pelvic injury during the Golden State Warriors 114-117 win over the Toronto Raptors. As such, the rest of Steve Kerr's roster was forced to step into larger roles down the stretch. Earlier this season, losing Curry midway through a game would have been a hammer blow for the Warriors. However, since Jimmy Butler's arrival, the Warriors have looked far more capable of adapting on the fly.
Butler isn't taking anything for granted, though. During his postgame news conference, Butler admitted that without Curry in the rotation, Golden State must play near-perfect basketball in order to remain competitive.
“Whether he’s with us or whether he’s not, hopefully he is,” Butler said. “But if he isn’t, that’s just more perfect basketball that we’re gonna have to play. We can’t afford to turn the ball over. We can’t afford to foul. Because we don’t have the one individual that can automatically get us back into the game. But we want our guy with us.”
Fortunately for the Warriors, Cury doesn't project to be out of the rotation for long. According to the team's PR account on X, the veteran's results have shown no structural damage to his pelvis or surrounding areas. As such, the team is going to provide an update on Curry's availability on Monday, March 25. As such, Butler and the rest of Golden State's roster must step up when the team faces the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday, March 22.
