Warriors' five-game win streak comes to end with 106-96 loss to Rockets

On the way to five straight victories, the Golden State Warriors went through a trio of Western Conference playoff teams, including the Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets. However, their end of regular season gauntlet didn't stop with the red-hot Houston Rockets in town on Sunday night at Chase Center.

After running through multiple teams in the Western Conference playoff picture, the Warriors' offense went cold on Sunday against the Rockets. Houston's No. 4 ranked defensive rating kept Steph Curry and the rest of Golden State's offense in check, snapping the Warriors' five-game win streak with a 106-96 defeat in San Francisco.

After scoring 125 over his last three games, Curry went ice cold against the Rockets, scoring just three points on 1-of-10 shooting from the field with eight assists and two rebounds. Curry didn't make it to the free-throw line on Sunday after shooting 46 free throws over the last three games. Curry's three-point performance is his second-lowest scoring number in the season.

Buddy Hield led the Warriors with 20 points off the bench on 7-of-14 shooting from the field with six made 3-pointers in 25 minutes.

After returning to the lineup on Friday following an absence due to a thumb injury, Gary Payton II tallied 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field with five boards, three steals and two assists in 20 minutes off the bench.

Draymond Green dealt with foul trouble on Sunday, registering a technical foul and flagrant 1 foul after tangling with Rockets center Alperen Sengun in a controversial call and review.

Sengun recorded a double-double to help fuel the Rockets, scoring 19 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Dillon Brooks scored a game-high 24 points in the Rockets 106-96 win at Chase Center.

With their loss to the Rockets, the Warriors slipped to the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference. The No. 4 through No. 8 seeds in the West are now only separated by 0.5 games with four games remaining on the regular season schedule.

On Tuesday, the Warriors will begin their final back-to-back of the season with a trip to Phoenix to meet Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant and the Suns.
