Lautaro Martinez is eyeing up another major goalscoring “turning point” in tomrrow’s Serie A clash between Inter Milan and Cagliari.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan take on Cagliari in Serie A tomorrow.
It will be a big match in the title race with Napoli, as all Inter’s matches from here out look to be.
And for Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez, it also looks to be a particularly significant match.
Lautaro Martinez Eyes “Turning Point” In Inter Milan Vs Cagliari Serie A Clash
As the Gazzetta note, Cagliari are the first team that Lautaro Martinez scored against for Inter.
The Argentine began a journey that has seen him climb the Nerazzurri’s all-time goalscoring charts with a strike against the Sardinians in 2018.
And Cagliari seem to continue to have a certain symbolism for Martinez.
The Gazzetta also highlight the Inter captain’s goal against the Rossoblu last December.
That strike was far from Martinez’s best goal. But it was a key moment that saw him break what had been a nearly two-month stretch without a goal for Inter.
And after that, Martinez was in blazing goalscoring form for the first month of 2025.
The 27-year-old’s form in front of the goal did then tail off a bit.
Martinez had also missed a couple matches for Inter after the most recent international break.
However, the Inter captain was on target – in spectacular fashion – against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
And keeping that momentum going could prove crucial in the run-in for Inter.
Martinez will feel that there are few betters teams against which to do that than Cagliari.
