Wingback Nicola Zalewski was forced off with an injury in the second half of today’s Serie A clash between Inter Milan and Cagliari.
This according to Alfredopedulla.com. The outlet reports that the Polish international suffered a calf injury that necessitated his substitution in the 65th minute.
Wingback Nicola Zalewski made his first ever start for Inter Milan this evening.
The 23-year-old joined the Nerazzurri on loan from Roma during the January transfer window.
And Zalewski had made numerous appearances for Inter off the bench over the last few months. However. he had yet to start a match for the club.
This evening, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi gave Zalewski the nod from the start, though.
The Nerazzurri hosted Cagliari in Serie A. And Zalewski was in the starting eleven, with Inzaghi rotating his team in view of this week’s Champions League showdown with Bayern Munich.
Nicola Zalewski Forced Off With Injury In Inter Milan Vs Cagliari Clash
It was not exactly a happy full debut for Nicola Zalewski, however.
On the one hand, it was certainly the result that the Nerazzurri wanted.
However, Zalewksi was not able to see out the entire match.
And the reason for this was an injury.
Zalewski had started this evening’s match on the right flank. This gave Matteo Darmian an opportunity to rest.
Then, after Darmian came on for Federico Dimarco, Zalewski moved over to left-wingback.
However, the Pole did not play for long in that position.
Rather, Alessandro Bastoni replaced Zalewski just after the hour mark. This move saw Carlos Augusto move up to wingback.
And according to Alfredopedulla.com, the reason for Zalewski’s solution was not tactical.
Rather, the 23-year-old had picked up an injury. Specifically, he suffered a calf problem.
