Top Notre Dame cornerback target in the 2026 class sets his commitment date

Notre Dame football is looking for its next lock-down cornerback in the 2026 class, and one of its top targets, Tennessee’s Caden Harris has narrowed his list down to five schools.

The 6-foot and 160-pound defensive back set official visits for each of his finalists, with the one to South Bend starting on June 3rd, his second of his scheduled trips. The nation’s No. 158 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings will also make trips to Vanderbilt, Georgia, Auburn and Missouri according to 247Sports Tom Loy.

Loy is also reporting (subscription required) that Harris will commit on July 4th, so one team will be celebrating with fireworks, and hopefully it’s the Irish. Harris mentioned to him that defensive backs coach Mike Mickens has stood out during his recruitment, noting that his willingness to play younger players at the position has his attention.

The fact that Notre Dame hasn’t been afraid of playing freshman and sophomores at any position has made positive impacts on many recruits, and that could push the Irish over the edge for Harris.
