TNT Sports pundit Lucy Ward praised Chelsea for their win against Legia Warsaw and said the difference between their first and second half performance was “night and day.”
The Blues put in an all too familiar poor and uninspiring first half display in which they had a lot of possession but did nothing with it.
However, in the second half there was a huge improvement and they dominated proceedings with Tyrique George scoring his first Chelsea goal and Noni Madueke bagging a brace.
Ward praises Chelsea second half performance
Enzo Maresca deserves credit for the changes he made as he introduced Madueke and Levi Colwill for Cole Palmer and Tosin Adarabioyo.
The Italian also made an important tactical switch as he dropped Nkunku into the number ten role and put George down the middle which worked to great effect.
The second half performance was like watching a different team and Madueke admitted they had played too slowly in the first half.
Ward, who was a pundit on TNT Sports for the game insisted the difference was night and day between the first and second half performance.
“Chelsea look much better when they play with pace and intent,” she told TNT Sports as cited on X.com.
“The difference between their first and second half is night and day.”
The contrast between each half was quite something and you have to wonder why the Blues didn’t play with that pace and intent in the first half because that can’t have been the game plan.
