Levi Colwill received praise from the Polish media after Chelsea’s 3-0 win against Legia Warsaw on Thursday night.
After an all too familiar uninspiring first half performance the Blues upped their levels in the second period with Tyrique George getting his first goal for the club, whilst Noni Madueke bagged a brace after coming on at half time.
The win has all but secured Chelsea’s place in the last four of a competition they have a 100% record in, and are heavy favourites to win.
Colwill earns praise from Polish media
Maresca once again made a number of changes to the team with first team regulars Colwill, Nicolas Jackson, Marc Cucurella, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez all finding themselves on the bench.
After a disappointing first half display Maresca made a double change at the break with Colwill and Madueke replacing Tosin Adarabioyo and Cole Palmer.
Colwill has come under criticism for his performances this season, but his second half performance was assured, and the 21-year-old was praised by the Polish media for one moment in particular.
“Chelsea dominated in many parameters — speed, technical and tactical. Perhaps the most symptomatic action took place in the 70th minute. Levi Colwill sent a great cut ball from the defence line to Marc Cucurella,” according to Przegladsportowy.
“It was such a phenomenal pass that his partner Benoit Badiashile rushed to applaud. The action immediately moved to Legia’s goal and ended in a penalty kick.”
Colwill has been praised for his range of passing and it’s certainly one of the strongest attributes in his game, although his defending still needs to improve.
