The Mood In The Rangers Locker Room is ‘Intense’ With Eyes On The Playoffs

The New York Rangers’ 2-1 loss to the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night was inexcusable and there’s no doubt about that.

Between their lack of intensity, inability to create any sort of offense and defensive woes, nothing went right for the Rangers.

“It was a disappointing game for us,” Braden Schneider said. “Obviously a big two points that we missed out on. I think all we can do is turn the page and flip to tomorrow…

“We came out a little flat and we just weren't executing the way we wanted to. I think everyone in our room is disappointed, but we can’t sulk on it for too long.”

While not making any excuses, the Rangers are ready to scrap that entire game from their memory.

“We’ve moved on from last night,” Peter Laviolette said. “Everything’s been on the table this morning, so we’re now focusing on the next one where we have to be better. We’ve acknowledged that.”

By losing against the Flames, the Rangers put themselves in a major hole. The Canadiens leapfrogged them for the second wild-card spot on Tuesday night.

The Blueshirts seemed unfocused in Tuesday night’s loss, but Schneider tried to make clear that the energy around the locker room is right where it should be.

“It’s intense,” Schenider said of the mood in the locker room. “Everyone has the same goal and everyone wants to win. I think everyone knowing what we need to do, we are ready for it. I think everyone is excited and knows what needs to be done to move forward.”
