Brownell expresses disappointment as Clemson was locked out of the locker room at halftime
Clemson head coach Brad Brownell was left frustrated at halftime of the Tigers’ 76-73 loss to No. 13 Louisville on Friday night—not just because of his team’s performance, but due to an unexpected and bizarre situation off the court.
When Clemson players left the court for halftime at the Spectrum Center, they found themselves locked out of their own locker room. For the first four minutes of the break, Brownell and his team were forced to wait in the hallway, leaving him no choice but to deliver his halftime speech and adjustments outside the dressing room.
With only 10 minutes left before the Tigers had to return to the floor for warmups, the delay significantly cut into their preparation time. Despite the mishap, Clemson was not granted any additional time to compensate for the lost minutes.
After the game, Brownell expressed his disappointment with the situation.

“No, not at this level. It’s disappointing, obviously,” he said when asked if anything like this had ever happened before. The Tigers were already dealing with challenges, including the absence of starting guard Dillon Hunter, who was ruled out for the season with a broken hand. Being locked out of the locker room only added to the adversity.
While it remains unclear what caused the issue, the ACC is reportedly looking into the matter. However, that was little consolation for Brownell and his team, who had to navigate an already intense matchup with an unexpected hurdle thrown in their way.
