Peter Laviolette Must Utilize Matt Rempe In Order For Him To Reach Highest Potential
If the Rangers do make the playoffs, it won't be because of Peter Laviolette's coaching.
It will be in spite of his endless blunders.
Last night's 3-1 loss to Edmonton at The Garden proves the point we've been seeing – and making – all season.
Lavvy favors failing veterans and ignores gifted youngsters. His idea of fixing a lousy – one-for-twenty – power play is to continue with the same messed up combos – over and over and over again.
He ignores possible and obvious cures, such as the Matt Rempe Solution.
Since the end of his suspension, Rempe has improved his game in every way. Last night he burst – yeah, literally burst – through the Oilers defense into a breakaway and barely missed scoring.
"Rempe's skating has improved to a point where he's more of an offensive threat than ever," says The Old Scout. "Matt should be on the power play."
Instead, Laviolette rolls out the same tired, failing crew – Panarin, Kreider, Mika, Fox, Trocheck and Lafreniere. What do they give you? Gournished!
"It should be obvious," adds The Old Scout, "that – with his size – Rempe would be the best Ranger for screening a goalie; yet Lavvy ignores him."
Or, as wise man Sean McCaffrey wisely notes, "Laviolette makes no adjustments when he should make adjustments."
How about You, good citizens of Rangerville, do you agree, or disagree, with The Maven? With Sean?
Whatever the result, we can agree on one thing; despite Laviolette's blunders, the Rangers still hold a wild-card spot!
