The 10 Illinois Mr. Basketball nominees for 2025, including three from Peoria area
Voting for the next Illinois Mr. Basketball has begun.
The Illinois Basketball Coaches Association, working with the Chicago Tribune, released 12 finalists on Sunday for the annual boys high school basketball award. Howard Nathan (Manual, 1991), Sergio McClain (Manual, 1997), Frank Williams (Manual, 1998) and Shaun Livingston (Peoria High, 2004) are the four Peoria winners since the top boys prep hooper in Illinois started being named in 1981.
Here are the 12 boys nominees — listed alphabetically — that high school coaches and media members can vote for until 12 p.m. March 31. The ballot for 2025 Illinois Ms. Basketball was released last week.
Winners will be contacted April 4, then presented their awards at the IBCA hall of fame banquet on May 3 at Illinois State University's CEFCU Arena.
Devin Cleveland, Chicago Kenwood
Cleveland, one of three sophomores on the ballot, averaged 21.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals for Kenwood, which made a run to the Class 4A Elite Eight. Cleveland picked up IBCA all-state first-team honors and is considered one of the top class of 2027 players in the state with offers from Illinois, Michigan and DePaul.
Tyreek Coleman, Aurora Waubonsie Valley
The senior averaged 21.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists as Waubonsie Valley lost in a sectional semifinal to eventual Class 4A state champion Lisle Benet. Coleman is a two-time IBCA all-stater including a first-team honoree this season. He's committed to play at Illinois State.

Jaxon Davis, Gurnee Warren
The sophomore averaged 19.9 points, 6.2 assists and 3.9 rebounds as Warren was the Class 4A state runner-up to Lisle Benet. Davis is a two-time IBCA first-team all-state selection, while being one of the best class of 2027 players in the state. He currently holds offers from Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern and DePaul.
Phoenix Gill, Chicago St. Ignatius
The senior averaged 20.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 3.4 assists as St. Ignatius lost in a Class 4A regional championship. He's been IBCA all-state three times highlighted by a first-team nod this season. He scored 1,551 career points. Gill is currently committed to Northwestern.
Marcos Gonzales, Chicago Brother Rice
The senior averaged 18.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in helping lead Brother Rice to a Class 3A state runner-up finish. He was a two-time IBCA all-state honoree including a first-team selection this season. Gonzales is currently committed to The Citadel.
Bradley Longcor III, Quincy
The senior averaged 17.4 points, 4.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds as Quincy lost in the Class 4A Elite Eight to eventual state champion Lisle Benet. Longcor III, a four-year starter, was named IBCA all-state three times including a pair first-team honors over the last two seasons. He's currently committed to Santa Clara.
Ian Miletic, Rolling Meadows
The senior averaged 18.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists as 30-win Rolling Meadows lost to Gurnee Warren in the Class 4A Elite Eight. Miletic picked up IBCA all-state first-team honors this season. He's currently committed to play at Marquette.
Dietrich Richardson, Manual
The senior averaged 18.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 5.0 assists in guiding Manual to a Class 2A fourth-place finish. He was named the 2025 Journal Star boys basketball player of the year. Richardson has been named IBCA all-state all-time twice, including first-team honors this season. He's currently committed to Bradley.

Leshawn Stowers, Peoria High
The senior averaged 18.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists as Peoria High made a run to the Class 3A Elite Eight, losing to eventual state runner-up Chicago Brother Rice. He was named first team all-state by the IBCA, while also being a Journal Star All-Area Class 3A selection. Stower is currently committed to Miami (Ohio).
Docker Tedeschi, Benton
The senior averaged 24.5 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.4 blocks and 3.0 assists for Benton, which lost in a Class 2A sectional semifinal. He's a two-time IBCA all-state first-team selection and is Benton's second all-time leading scorer with 1,714 career points. Tedeschi is currently committed to Colorado State.
Davion Thompson, Bolingbrook
Thompson, who is the final of the three sophomores on the ballot, averaged 24.0 points and 5.0 rebounds as Bolingbrook made it to a Class 4A sectional semifinal. He is a two-time IBCA first-team all-stater. He's considered one of the top recruits in the class of 2027. He has offers from DePaul, Illinois, Indiana and Tennessee.
Matthew Zobrist, Metamora
The senior averaged 19.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists in helping lead Metamora to the Class 3A Sweet Sixteen. He picked up IBCA all-state first-team honors as well as being named a Journal Star All-Area Class 3A pick. Zobrist is currently committed to Bradley.
