Texas vs South Carolina game score: Live coverage of Final Four showdown

TAMPA, Fla. — To be the best, the Texas women's basketball team must beat the best.

As it contends for its first national championship since 1986, Texas will meet South Carolina in the Final Four round of the NCAA Tournament at Amalie Arena on Friday night. South Carolina is the NCAA's defending champion and the Gamecocks have won two of the last three titles.

South Carolina (34-3) has won two of the three games that it has already played this season against Texas (35-3), its foe from the Southeastern Conference.

The winner of this game will face either UCLA (34-2) or UConn (35-3) in Sunday's national championship game. The Bruins and Huskies are set to play after UT and South Carolina wrap up their game at Amalie Arena.

How has Texas fared in the NCAA Tournament?

A Final Four participant for the first time since 2003, this is Texas' fourth appearance on the NCAA's biggest stage. The Longhorns have had mixed results this deep into the NCAA Tournament:
