Texas Longhorns hire Caleb Williams QB guru from Chicago Bears to coach Arch Manning
The expectations for Arch Manning are so sky-high as the 2025 season approaches, it would be hard for an in-prime Tom Brady to exceed the hype. Hoping to make sure Manning has every chance to succeed, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian has hired a QB guru to mentor the redshirt freshman.
Texas has landed Chicago Bears quarterback coach Kerry Joseph. Joseph is credited with helping the development of Bears QB Caleb Williams. Joseph worked with Williams leading into the 2024 NFL Draft. Knowing the Bears were going to pick Williams first overall, Chicago hired Joseph as QB coach.
A former CFL legend, Joseph developed a strong bond with Williams. “He wants to be great,” Joseph said the Bears signal caller. Previously, Joseph spent four years with the Seattle Seahawks, where he was Pete Carroll’s assistant QB coach. Joseph played college football at McNeese State.
Now considered a "Quarterback Whisperer," Joseph is credited with accelerating Williams' development. Williams threw for 3,541 yards and 20 TDs in his rookie season in the Windy City.

Joseph became available when the Bears fired most of their coaching staff after the season ended. For Williams, it was like a big blow losing such a close mentor. “I have to adapt,” the former USC Trojan QB said after the mass firings. Joseph was Williams’ security blanket. Sacked 68 times in his rookie season, Joseph became a calm voice in the middle of the storm.
Now, Joseph will turn his attention to the most talked about college QB since Tim Tebow or Vince Young. While Manning might be one of the best QBs in college football already, Joseph's mission will to make sure he has every opportunity to be a champion and someday, maybe, the No. 1 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
